Position Summary

The Manufacturing Department is responsible for the production, packaging, and distribution of Kimberly Clark products.

This position will report to the Asset Team Leader and receive work directions from the leader and Operations Shift Leader. The Process Operator is responsible for the operation, trouble shooting, and upkeep of high-speed machinery used to manufacture nonwoven material. This position is also responsible for ensuring superior quality of the produced material. The incumbent will provide support for the mill operation on a rotating shift to ensure short term objectives and future mill vision goals are achieved.

Shift
• The LaGrange Mill operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks per year
• 12 hour rotating shifts: 6:00am to 6:00pm and 6:00pm to 6:00am
• Shift rotates between working days and nights every two weeks
• For one week, associates work three 12 hour shifts and the next week, associates work four 12 hour shifts
• Overtime is required occasionally and is not optional
• It is a basic requirement of this position to meet the above defined work schedule

Key Responsibilities
• Must demonstrate initiative and flexibility to support the business results of the operating team, both the immediate business needs on the shift and the development for future business needs
• Participate in root cause assessments of all safety, product/process, quality and productivity issues and customer complaints as appropriate, ensuring that effective corrective action is identified and implemented to meet objectives
• Participate and lead machine start-up, trouble shooting, shutdown, grade changes events and developing work instructions to allow supporting repetitive basic maintenance tasks
• Support total team involvement, communicating to prevent reoccurring mistakes within and across crews ensuring that the on-coming crew is “set up” for success in the functional locations they are supporting
• Fully trained in all machine modules and understands and capable of applying all of the elements of the training system including meeting the resource sharing module identified for the individual
• Supports training plan to address crew/mill wide deficiencies analyzing both self and team mates to support the overall business. Ensures delivery of training to fellow crew members as subject matter expert. Holds others accountable providing performance feedback on other associates
• Responsible for receiving and responding to performance review feedback and necessary developmental opportunities including managing personal growth plans
• Participate in giving feedback and recognition to fellow team members to enhance performance
• Use lean principles to identify and solve problems
• Provide input to equipment and process improvement initiatives
• Initiate work requests and record reliability activity in SAP system

Required Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

Position typically requires a Bachelor’s in engineering or advanced scientific discipline and up to 15 years of related experience.

Qualifications:
• Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Industrial, Chemical, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Pulp and Paper Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Requires a minimum of 3 years of experience in a variety of technical or operational assignments in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience using manufacturing analysis tools.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Specific, in depth technical knowledge and expertise in tissue and/or towel manufacturing.
• Up to 15 years of experience in a variety of plant and staff assignments, including maintenance and operations.
• Familiarity with machine startups.
• Experience working with external technical service providers.
